PROJECT BRIEF

Aims and Objectives

To train new entrants to the green wood industry to satisfy the labour market demand.

To equip new entrants with the necessary skills to succeed as self employed workers.

To increase and enhance the area of in-cycle hazel coppice woodland to the benefit of the rural economy, landscape and ecological value of Hampshire and West Sussex.

Target group: Individuals aged 16 to 25 and 25 years plus, who have been unemployed for 6 months or more

Time scale: Start November 2000 and completion by the end of April 2001.

Location: The project area will be across the counties of Hampshire and West Sussex.

Method

Work Taster Day

Training Needs Analysis (TNA)

Training and Instructional days to include craft, technical and basic training, legislative and health & safety certification, Information Communication Technology, Business skills and personal effectiveness

Driving Lessons where necessary

Supervised Work Experience with Mentors

Training the trainers / mentors
